How And Where To Find Good Paintball Guns

Before you make the jump and decide to buy a good cheap paintball gun you should already have played paintball a few times and rented a couple of different guns hopefully.

Paintball guns can be expensive so it's a good idea to know what you're getting into... One of the first tings you have to decide early on if you are going to buy a paintball gun is how much you want to spend.

You can get yourself a pretty good semi-automatic cheap paintball gun that runs on CO2 like a Spyder that is also upgradeable for about $75-$150. A Spyder paintball gun or pretty much any other paintball gun in this range from a good manufacturer will be more then enough for the average user.

However if you want to compete in games like speedball or if you want to play competitively then you're probably going to need a better quality gun... most likely something in the price range of $200-$300. These types of paintball guns, Tippman guns come to mind, are of a better quality and are made to last longer and perform better. Basically they're made for someone who is serious about paintball.

Something a lot of people forget when budgeting for their paintball gun is that they will need more equipment as well. In addition to a paintball gun you'll also need a good mask at the least. There's a bunch of other protective equipment you can wear out on the paintball field but at the bare minimum you will need a mask to protect your eyes.

Back To How And Where To Find Cheap Paintball Guns

Below are a few tips and questions you may want to consider before picking up your first paintball gun.

  • It's a good idea to play with as many paintball guns as possible before coming to a decision. You can rent guns at paintball facilities and borrow from friends to get a better idea of what ind of guns you like and which type you dislike. Bottom line...try a few different types of guns from different manufacturers to see what suits you.
  • Create a budget for paintball and remember that you still have to buy other gear and equipment. If you're looking for a decent cheap paintball gun you should figure on at least spending $100-$150 on a pretty good semi-automatic.
  • Talk to as many paintballers as possible about their paintball guns and what they like and dislike about theirs. There are also a lot of online forums where you can find a lot of seasoned pros more then willing to share their opinions regarding their equipment. A great place to start is PB Review. You can find reviews on guns and equipment at PB Reviw as well as maps for local paintball facilities and announcements for paintball tournaments.

Ok so you want a good paintball gun and you don't want to pay an arm and a leg... the first thing you should do is begin to check out some paintball forums and other paintball communities online. What you're looking for is some paintball gun reviews from experienced users. There are a lot of paintball pros online and they give a lot of detailed reviews of a lot of different paintball guns. I would start with Paintball Forum.

You can save a lot of money by shopping online but you obviously will want to have played with the gun you buy before you buy it to avoid any surprises. OK all that being said here is some information on why cheap paintball gusna re such a good value in paintball.

The velocity and range of just about all paintball guns is virtually the same. You read that right. The velocity at which paintball guns fire is virtually the same regardless of the manufacturer or brand of the paintball gun. The reason for this is because paintball is regulated and most paintball guns are designed to shoot between 250 and 300 feet per second.  Most safety regulations will prevent your paintball guy from shooting any faster then 300 feet per second. Essentially what I'm saying is that any paintball gun you buy will shoot within this range.

The other thing is range or distance and yes most paintball guns will shoot about the same distance. This is because of things like gravity and physics. Since the paintball is traveling at approximately the same speed we can assume that it will travel about the same distance becasue gravity will be applied evenly to all paintballs.

To summarize: Try as many paintball guns as possible before making a choice. Educate yourself and read as many reviews and comparisons of as many markers and paintball guns as possible. Decide how "into" paintball you're going to get and give yourself a budget and spread out over your paintball gun, gear and safety equipment. Save yourself some many and buy yourself a cheap paintball guns online!
